In 1976, from the basement of his family home, Tony Maier-Moussa was laying the foundations for one of cycling’s most pioneering brands, Assos. Initially developing an innovative Lycra skinsuit in collaboration with Hans Hess, a Swiss downhill ski racing suit maker, the Maier-Moussa family soon shifted their focus towards applying this technology to cycling shorts. The Assos journey had begun. From the world’s first carbon fibre road bike, to the use of the first synthetic chamois, Toni Maier-Moussa and Assos have been at the forefront of cycling apparel for several decades and are responsible for many of the performance technologies that are present in the clothes we wear today.
